School Idols: Len Kagamine x Reader Chapter 5

"Rin! Len! ____!" You heard a frantic voice yell. You turned around to see the rest of the Vocaloids running up to the three of you. Gumi carried her laptop, before shoving it in front of you.
        "Gumi? Daijobu?" You asked.
        "Look at this!" Gumi exclaimed. You wondered what could have happened. Her hair was messy and she looked desperate. What could have happened?
        "Gumi, what's this about?" Len asked.
        "For school idols! It's a huge competition. We register as a group, post videos to the site, and the idol groups with the most views compete in a giant competition. There was a group of three girls that always win. IA, Lily, and Mayu. Also called Treble Clef. They've won two years in a row. Anyone who's in the top twenty become really popular," Gumi explained, eyes shining brightly.
        "Can we do it? We started only two months ago. We need to make the top twenty in March. That's in four months," you said.
        "We sign up now. Post a all our videos, we can do singles from individual idols, we can do it!" Miku said, long teal hair swinging.
        "____, you've been the centre in our songs. The centre makes it breaks it. ____, our videos have had hundreds of views. You made Vocaloid. We can do this," Len said, grabbing your hands.
        "I ship it," you heard Rin whisper to Luka.
        You took a deep breath.
        "Let's do this," you said, smiling over at the others.
        Gumi took her laptop. You all watched as she typed the name in the browser screen.
ENTER GROUP NAME: VOCALOID
        There was a tension in the air. And Gumi pressed enter.
        "We have no time to waste. Let's get going," Luka said.

You watched over the days. Your rank climbed a fair bit. You had posted the two videos, and your rank was sitting at 92. You were recording two songs, only one with a music video. You planned to release two at a time. One with a music video, one without.
        You rolled over on your back, notepad still in your hand. All of the lyrics were scribbled down.
Gumi & Rin: The steel wall behind me makes my fingers turn cold
A concrete barrier ahead of me blocks the view
Meiko & Kaito: Suffocating, pressed against two walls
No turning back, the path forwards is blocked 

Gakupo & Luka: The tiny scrap of sky taunts me overhead
The sky and my dreams are just beyond my reach

____: I'll take flight, I need a quick breather anyways

        That was Crow, the newest single. That was what you were going to preform. It was less happy-go-luck than the other songs, but if you wanted to compete, you needed to reach more viewers.Crow, which was more rock than pop, would hopefully do just that. You'd release it with Magic Spell. Crow would be your next show, in four weeks. The costumes were pretty sweet, too. A tad more gothic, but not serious Gothic loli.
        You felt your cellphone vibrate.
        Miku: We're having a sleepover at my house next weekend. U in?
        ____: Who'll be there?
        Miku: All of Vocaloid. We can work on the competition.
        ____: Sure. Maybe then Len and I can show u the finished song.
        Miku: I can't wait!
        You had been practicing Magic Spell for the past while. It  was, like Crow, more rock than pop, but it was more pop than Crow.
        Before bed, you checked Vocaloid's standing on the idol website. 78. You were slowly rising up, but you had only three months left. You could maybe release four songs in that time. Would that be enough to get you into the competition?

You knocked sharply on the door, your overnight bag swung over your shoulder. You had a set of clothes, pyjamas, and your notebook. You heard scuffling footsteps from the other side of the door, and Luka finally answered.
        "Come on in, ____. We're just waiting for the Kagamines," she said. You went into the livingroom. Miku was eating a leek (she had an endless supply), Kaito was cowering as Meiko repeatedly pelted him with cans of root beer. Gakupo wasn't really doing anything. Gumi was clicking away in her laptop, looking up music. Right after you dropped your bag, the doorbell rang. You went over to greet the Kagamines. Len had his acoustic guitar across his back.
        "____, let's hear the new song!" Miku said. The others agreed and made their way to the main livingroom. Luka, Gumi, Kaito, and Miku sat on the couch. Meiko, Gakupo, and Rin sat at their feet, leaving you and Len awkwardly standing in the middle of the living room. Len took out the guitar and took a moment to tune it. 
        "Magic Spell, or Crow?" You asked Len.
        "Let's go with Magic Spell, to start off with," Len answered. You nodded, and he started playing.
        "I wish that I could live forever, stay in this moment, stop time
I'd be nice to stay here forever
With endless time ahead of us, I can finally reach my dreams
How else will it work out?
I really love it here, let's stay forever, why not just cast a spell over us?

Looking back on the path I've walked on, I've had enough of hate

These contradicting thoughts don't help clear my spinning head
But it's all okay, I just need to rest for a little while

When it comes down to the bitter end, does this all even actually matter?
If I don't like this fate, I'll write a new one. Here's my will power

I'm not looking back on the path that I came on
After all, all it contains is bitter memories
Maybe the things I'll face in my future will brighten the person I've become," you sang. It was a nice melody. Strong at parts, but also softer in sections. Not to mention that Len's talents on the guitar made the song sound so polished.
        There was a lot of clapping from the Vocaloids.
        "I love it!" Miku squealed.
        "I have it formatted for all of us, but tell me if you want to make changes," you said.
        "Actually, I think you should be the main singer. The rest of us can provide back-up vocals," Luka said. 
        "N-nani?" You exclaimed.
        "Everyone's been saying that you had a great voice. I think that if you're the focus of Magic Spell, we'll boost the ratings," Gumi said eagerly.
        "Could a solo by me really do that?" You asked.
        "Yeah! It'd be awesome," Rin insisted.
        "I don't know," you said, biting your lip.
        "____, we all know you should," Gakupo said.
        "On one condition. We do a group version first. Then I can do a solo version of it," you said.
        They begrudgingly agreed.
        "Should we show them Crow, then?" You turned to Len.

Luka started brainstorming for the dance, and you had the first bit planned out. You'd be filming soon. After practice, the girls went down to the basement to sleep. The boys took the main floor, since there was less space there.
         "This competition, we've got this," Miku assured, before turning off the lights.
